Janome MOD-100 Instruction Book

To thread the Janome MOD-100, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel to raise the needle. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, making sure the thread passes through the tension discs and take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Check that you're using the correct needle size and type for your fabric. Ensure the needle is inserted correctly and is not bent. Also, verify that the needle is not hitting the presser foot or the throat plate.
First, re-thread the machine, ensuring that the thread is correctly seated in the tension discs. Adjust the tension dial gradually, testing on a scrap piece of fabric until the stitch quality improves. Clean the tension discs if needed.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin area and feed dogs, changing the needle regularly, and oiling the machine as per the manual's instructions. Always unplug the machine before performing any maintenance.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and press the release button located behind the presser foot holder. Align the new foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Skipped stitches can be caused by using the wrong needle or a dull needle. Ensure the needle is properly inserted and check that the thread is correctly threaded through the machine. Consider using a stabilizer if sewing stretchy fabrics.
Ensure the presser foot is down and the feed dogs are engaged. Check that there is no lint or debris obstructing the feed dogs and adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary.
Use the stitch selection dial to choose your desired stitch. Refer to the stitch chart on the machine to match the number on the dial with the corresponding stitch. Adjust the stitch length and width as needed.
Ensure the bobbin is wound evenly and placed correctly in the bobbin case. Re-thread the bobbin, making sure the thread follows the correct path. Clean the bobbin area to remove any lint or thread fragments.
Ensure that the machine is properly threaded and the tension is correctly set. Use the appropriate needle and thread for your fabric type. Regularly clean the machine and replace the needle to maintain optimal stitch quality.
