To thread the Janome Memory Craft 4800, begin by raising the presser foot. Place the spool on the spool pin and use the spool holder to secure it. Draw the thread through the top thread guide, down the right channel, and around the tension knob. Continue threading up through the take-up lever and down through the needle guide before threading the needle.
If the machine is skipping stitches, first check if the needle is installed correctly and is not bent or dull. Ensure you are using the correct needle and thread combination for your fabric. Re-thread the machine and check the bobbin to ensure it is wound evenly and inserted properly.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For standard sewing, the tension should be set between 3 and 5. Test on a scrap piece of fabric and adjust as needed. If loops appear on the top side, increase the tension; if loops appear on the underside, decrease it.
Ensure that the feed dogs are raised and not disengaged. Check that the presser foot is down and that the correct foot is being used for your fabric type. Clean under the needle plate to remove any lint or debris that might be obstructing the feed dogs.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case area and under the needle plate to remove lint and thread debris. Use a small brush or vacuum attachment. Oil the machine according to the manual's instructions, typically focusing on the bobbin area. Always consult the user manual for specific maintenance guidelines.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw with a screwdriver and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, and tighten the clamp screw securely.
First, check that the power cord is securely connected to both the machine and the power outlet. Ensure the power switch is turned on. If the machine still doesn't start, check the outlet by trying another appliance. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Use the stitch selection buttons located on the control panel. Press the desired stitch number, and the display will show the chosen stitch. Adjust the stitch length and width as necessary using the corresponding dials or buttons.
Bobbin thread bunching can be caused by incorrect threading of the upper thread or bobbin. Re-thread the machine and ensure the bobbin is correctly placed in the bobbin case. Also, check the bobbin tension and clean the bobbin area to remove any debris.
Raise the needle to its highest position, lower the presser foot, and pull down the needle threader lever. Hook the thread under the guide and pull it forward. The threader will pass the thread through the needle eye. Release the lever gently to complete the threading.
