To thread the machine, raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Place the spool on the spool pin and pass the thread through the top guides, tension discs, and the needle bar thread guide. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Ensure that the needle is correctly inserted and is the right type for the fabric. Check the needle for bends or damage and replace it if necessary. Also, verify that the thread is properly threaded and that the tension settings are correct.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust. Remove the needle plate and clean the feed dogs and bobbin area with a small brush. Oil the machine as per the user manual guidelines, and have it serviced by a professional annually.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Increase the tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the tension is set correctly.
The machine is compatible with .JEF and .JEF+ embroidery formats. Ensure your designs are saved in these formats to be read correctly by the machine.
To update the firmware, download the latest update from the Janome website. Transfer the update to a USB stick, insert it into the machine, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Check that the power cord is securely connected to both the machine and the power outlet. Verify that the outlet is functioning by testing another device. If the problem persists, contact Janome customer support.
Ensure the bobbin is wound evenly and placed correctly in the bobbin case. Adjust the bobbin tension screw on the bobbin case if necessary, and check that the upper thread tension is set appropriately.
The machine typically includes several presser feet, a bobbin holder, embroidery hoops, spool holders, a seam ripper, a screwdriver, and an instructional DVD. Check the user manual for a complete list of included accessories.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, and tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
