To thread the Janome Jem Gold 660, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel to raise the needle. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and draw the thread through the thread guides, tension discs, and the take-up lever, following the threading path indicated on the machine. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If the stitches are skipping, check if the needle is damaged or incorrect for the fabric being used. Replace the needle if necessary. Ensure the machine is threaded correctly and the tension settings are appropriate for the fabric. Also, clean the bobbin case area to remove any lint or debris.
To adjust the tension on the Janome Jem Gold 660, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For general sewing, set the tension dial to a middle setting (usually around 3 to 5). Adjust the dial higher for tighter tension or lower for looser tension, depending on your fabric and thread combination.
Unusual noise from the machine may be due to a need for cleaning or oiling. Check for any thread or lint caught in the bobbin area and clean it. Ensure the machine is properly lubricated as per the manual instructions. Tighten any loose screws and check the needle is installed correctly.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and needle to the highest position. Press the lever at the back of the foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot with the foot holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Regular maintenance for the Janome Jem Gold 660 includes cleaning the bobbin area, changing the needle regularly, and oiling moving parts as specified in the manual. It's also important to cover the machine when not in use to prevent dust buildup.
If the bobbin is not winding properly, ensure the bobbin is placed correctly on the bobbin winder spindle, and the thread is properly threaded through the bobbin winding tension disc. Check that the bobbin winder is engaged and that there is no thread tangling.
If the fabric is not feeding evenly, check that the feed dogs are raised and not covered by the extension table. Ensure the presser foot pressure is set correctly for the fabric thickness. Clean any lint or debris from the feed dog area to improve feed efficiency.
To sew buttonholes, attach the buttonhole foot and select the buttonhole stitch on the machine. Mark the buttonhole placement on the fabric, place the fabric under the foot, and lower the presser foot. Start sewing and let the machine automatically create the buttonhole.
If the machine is not turning on, check that the power cord is securely plugged into both the machine and a working electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch is turned on. If the machine still does not turn on, inspect the power cord for damage and consider consulting a technician.
