To thread the Janome DC5100, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Pull the thread through the thread guide and then down through the tension discs. Continue threading through the take-up lever and down through the needle eye from front to back.
A broken needle can be caused by using the wrong type of needle for the fabric, incorrect needle installation, or sewing over pins. Ensure the needle is properly inserted and is suitable for the material being sewn.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the lint from the bobbin area, changing the needle regularly, and oiling the machine as recommended in the manual. Always unplug the machine before performing any maintenance.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised and check that the presser foot is lowered. Also, make sure the stitch length is set correctly for the type of fabric you are using.
Adjust the tension by using the tension dial. For lighter fabrics, decrease the tension, and for heavier fabrics, increase it. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the tension is correct before sewing your project.
Skipping stitches can be caused by a dull or bent needle. Replace the needle and ensure it is properly installed. Also, check the threading to ensure it is correct.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever, press the lever behind the presser foot holder to release the foot, and then attach the new foot by aligning it with the presser foot holder and lowering the presser foot lever.
Error code E1 indicates a problem with the foot controller. Ensure it is connected properly and try restarting the machine. If the issue persists, contact a service technician.
To sew buttonholes, attach the buttonhole foot, select the buttonhole stitch, and place the fabric under the foot. Adjust the size as needed and start sewing. The machine will sew the buttonhole automatically.
Unusual noises can indicate a need for cleaning or oiling. Remove lint from the bobbin area and oil the machine according to the manual. If the noise persists, consult a service technician.
