To thread the Janome DC3018, start by raising the presser foot and turning off the machine. Place the spool on the spool pin and follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread is securely in the tension discs. Pull the thread through the needle eye from front to back.
Check if the needle is properly inserted and not bent. Ensure you are using the correct needle size and type for your fabric. Also, make sure the needle is not striking the presser foot or needle plate.
First, re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is correctly placed in the tension discs. Check bobbin threading and ensure the bobbin is correctly installed. Adjust the tension dial as needed, and test on scrap fabric.
Clean your machine after every 10 hours of use or whenever you notice lint buildup. Oil it as recommended in the user manual, usually after every 20-30 hours of sewing. Use only sewing machine oil.
Raise the presser foot lever, and press the button on the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Skipped stitches can be caused by a dull or bent needle, incorrect needle type, or improper threading. Ensure the needle is appropriate for the fabric and correctly inserted. Re-thread the machine to check for threading issues.
Use the stitch length dial to select the desired stitch length, typically between 2.0 and 4.0 for standard sewing. Use the stitch width dial to adjust the width, especially for zigzag stitches, based on your preferences.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised and not set for free-motion sewing. Check the presser foot pressure and adjust if necessary. Verify that the foot is appropriate for the fabric thickness and type.
Attach the buttonhole foot and select the buttonhole stitch on the machine. Place the fabric under the foot and lower the buttonhole lever. Start sewing, and the machine will automatically create the buttonhole.
Turn off the machine and unplug it. Remove dust and lint from the bobbin area and under the needle plate. Check for loose screws or parts. If noises persist, consult a professional technician.
