To thread the Janome DC2011, raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs and the take-up lever before threading the needle.
First, ensure the power cord is properly plugged into the machine and the outlet. Check that the foot pedal is connected securely. If the machine still doesn't start, inspect the foot pedal for damage and consider testing with a replacement pedal.
Skipped stitches can often be resolved by re-threading the machine, ensuring the needle is inserted correctly and not bent. Also, verify that you are using the correct needle and thread for your fabric type.
Regularly clean the lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush or vacuum attachment. Oil the machine as specified in the manual, and have it serviced by a professional annually to ensure optimal performance.
Ensure that you are using high-quality thread that is appropriate for your fabric. Re-thread the machine, checking for any snags or rough spots in the thread path. Also, make sure the tension is not set too high.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For most fabrics, a setting of 4 or 5 is suitable. Test on scrap fabric and adjust as needed to ensure balanced stitches.
Check that the feed dogs are raised and not in the dropped position. Ensure the presser foot pressure is appropriate for your fabric type. Clean any lint or debris from the feed dogs that might obstruct fabric movement.
Raise the needle and presser foot. Press the lever behind the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Position the new foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place securely.
When sewing denim, use a size 90/14 or 100/16 needle designed for heavy fabrics. Ensure that the needle is sharp and not bent to prevent needle breakage and skipped stitches.
Ensure the bobbin is placed correctly on the winder spindle and that the thread is threaded through the bobbin winding guide. Check that the winder stopper is properly positioned and that the machine is set to bobbin winding mode.
