To thread the Janome DC1018, start by raising the presser foot and turning off the machine. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin, then follow the threading path indicated on the machine, threading through the tension discs and guides until reaching the needle. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If your Janome DC1018 is not stitching properly, check the needle to ensure it is not bent or dull. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is properly seated in the tension discs. Also, confirm that the bobbin is correctly inserted and wound evenly.
Regular maintenance involves cleaning the bobbin area and feed dogs with a small brush to remove lint and dust. Occasionally, oil the machine using sewing machine oil as per the manufacturer's instructions, and have it serviced by a professional annually.
Ensure that the feed dogs are raised and not lowered. Check for obstructions like tangled thread or lint under the needle plate. Verify that the presser foot is down and the correct foot pressure is applied for the fabric type.
For sewing denim, use a size 90/14 or 100/16 needle, which is specifically designed for heavy fabrics. Ensure the needle is sharp and in good condition to prevent skipped stitches.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the machine. Higher numbers increase tension, and lower numbers decrease it. Test on a scrap fabric to achieve balanced stitches where the upper and lower threads lock in the middle of the fabric.
If the machine doesn't turn on, check the power cord connection and ensure the outlet is functional. Confirm that the machine is properly plugged in and the power switch is turned on. If the problem persists, consult a technician.
Raising the presser foot lifter, press the lever at the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new presser foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lifter to snap it into place.
Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle and push it to the right. Thread the spool, following the bobbin winding path, and wrap the thread around the bobbin several times. Hold the thread end, start the machine, and cut the excess thread once winding begins.
Skipped stitches often result from a bent or dull needle, so replace it with a new one. Ensure correct needle and thread pairing for your fabric. Also, check if the machine is threaded correctly and adjust tension if necessary.
