To thread the Janome Combi DX 502, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through all guides and the tension disc. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If stitches are skipping, check the needle to ensure it is not bent or dull, and replace it if necessary. Also, verify that the needle is properly inserted and that the thread is correctly threaded through the tension discs.
Regularly clean your machine by removing lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, and have it serviced by a professional annually.
If the fabric is not moving, check if the feed dogs are engaged. Ensure the presser foot is down and increase the stitch length. Also, verify that there is no lint obstructing the feed dogs.
Adjust the thread tension by turning the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For standard sewing, the dial is usually set between 3 and 5. Test on a scrap fabric to ensure optimal tension.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lifter, release the current foot with the release lever, and align the new foot with the presser foot holder. Lower the presser foot lifter to attach the new foot securely.
Ensure the bobbin is correctly placed on the winder spindle and that the thread is passed through the bobbin winding guide. Check that the bobbin winder spindle is pushed to the right position and that the thread is not tangled.
If the machine makes unusual noises, turn it off and unplug it. Check for any obstructions or tangled threads in the bobbin area. Clean the machine and oil it as per the manual instructions, and replace the needle if necessary.
Ensure you are using the correct needle and thread for your fabric type. Properly thread the machine, adjust tension settings as needed, and maintain a consistent sewing speed.
The Janome Combi DX 502 is compatible with standard sewing machine needles. For best results, use Janome brand needles, or universal needles in sizes appropriate for your fabric.
