To thread the Janome 659, place the spool on the spool pin, guide the thread through the thread guide, down the right channel, around the tension dial, up the left channel, through the take-up lever, down again, and finally thread the needle from front to back.
Check if the machine is correctly threaded, the bobbin is inserted properly, and ensure the needle is not bent or dull. Re-thread the machine and replace the needle if necessary.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Oil the machine as per the user manual's instructions. Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
Check if the needle is inserted correctly and not damaged. Ensure you are using the correct needle size and type for your fabric. Re-thread the machine, both the top thread and bobbin.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Increase the tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on a fabric scrap to find the best setting.
Use standard sewing machine needles suitable for your fabric type. Universal needles work well for most fabrics; use ballpoint for knits and sharp needles for woven fabrics.
Place the thread on the spool pin, guide it through the bobbin winding tension disc, and wrap it around the bobbin several times. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle and push it to the right. Press the foot pedal to start winding.
Ensure the presser foot is lowered and check the feed dogs are up and not disengaged. Clean any lint or debris from the feed dogs to improve fabric movement.
Yes, the Janome 659 can sew heavy fabrics, but ensure you use the correct needle size and thread type. Adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary and sew slowly to prevent needle breakage.
Raise the presser foot lever, press the release button at the back of the foot holder, and remove the current foot. To attach a new foot, align it under the holder and lower the presser foot lever until it snaps into place.
