To thread the Janome 124, start by placing the spool on the spool pin and securing it with the spool cap. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through each guide and tension disc. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Needle breakage can occur if the needle is bent, incorrectly inserted, or not suitable for the fabric. Ensure you are using the correct type and size of needle, and that it is inserted properly with the flat side facing the back.
Skipped stitches can result from a dull or incorrect needle, improper threading, or incorrect tension settings. Replace the needle, re-thread the machine, and adjust the tension as needed.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning lint from the bobbin area, changing the needle frequently, and oiling the machine according to the user manual. Always unplug the machine before performing maintenance.
Tension can be adjusted using the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Increase or decrease the tension to achieve even stitches. Test on scrap fabric to find the optimal setting.
The Janome 124 uses standard plastic bobbins, size 15. Ensure you are using the correct type to maintain stitch quality and prevent damage to the machine.
First, turn off the machine and remove the needle plate and bobbin. Clear any tangled thread and lint. Reinsert the bobbin, ensuring it is placed correctly, and reassemble the machine.
Check that the feed dogs are raised and not covered. Ensure the presser foot is down, and adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary. Clean any lint or debris from the feed dogs.
Raise the presser foot lever, then press the lever at the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Use the stitch selector dial to choose from the available stitches. Refer to the stitch chart on the machine to identify the stitch number, then turn the dial to the corresponding number.
