To start the Stihl MSE 220, ensure it is plugged into a suitable power outlet. Hold the chainsaw firmly and press the trigger switch to begin operation. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged before starting.
To tension the chain, first ensure the chainsaw is unplugged. Loosen the nuts on the sprocket cover slightly, then turn the tensioning screw until the chain sits snugly against the bar. Tighten the nuts to secure the sprocket cover.
The chain should be sharpened every 5 hours of use or when you notice a decrease in performance. Use a round file and file guide to ensure consistent sharpening angles.
If the chainsaw overheats, turn it off immediately and unplug it. Allow it to cool down before checking for any blockages in the air vents or inspecting the chain tension. Ensure proper lubrication of the chain.
Unplug the chainsaw and remove the sprocket cover by loosening the nuts. Remove the old chain from the bar and sprocket, then fit the new chain onto the sprocket and guide it around the bar. Reattach the sprocket cover and tension the chain properly.
After each use, clean the chainsaw by removing debris from the chain and bar. Check the chain tension and lubrication. Inspect for any visible damage or wear and store the chainsaw in a dry place.
The chain may come off if it is too loose or if the sprocket or bar is worn. Ensure proper chain tension and inspect the bar and sprocket for wear, replacing them if necessary.
To clean the air filter, unplug the chainsaw and remove the filter cover. Take out the air filter and clean it with warm soapy water, ensuring it is completely dry before reinstalling.
Use high-quality bar and chain oil for the Stihl MSE 220. This type of oil provides adequate lubrication and reduces friction and wear on the chain and bar.
If the chainsaw stops suddenly, check for power supply issues and ensure the outlet is functioning. Inspect the trigger switch and ensure the chain brake is not engaged. Allow the saw to cool down if it has overheated.
