The Stihl BT 130 requires a 50:1 fuel mixture, which means 50 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil. Always use high-quality unleaded gasoline and Stihl 2-stroke engine oil for optimal performance.
To replace the spark plug on the Stihl BT 130, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the spark plug boot and use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old plug. Install the new spark plug by screwing it in by hand, then tighten with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug boot.
If your Stihl BT 130 won't start, check the fuel mixture, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and verify the air filter is not clogged. Also, make sure the on/off switch is in the correct position.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter element. Wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely. Reinstall the filter and cover before operating the machine.
Regular maintenance includes checking the air filter, spark plug, and fuel system before each use. Every 25 hours, clean the air filter and check the muffler for damage. Replace the spark plug every 100 hours or annually.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked H (high speed) and L (low speed). With the engine running, adjust the screws to achieve smooth idling and acceleration. Refer to the user manual for specific settings.
Overheating can be caused by a dirty air filter, incorrect fuel mixture, or blocked cooling fins. Ensure proper air flow and check the fuel mixture ratio. Clean the cooling fins and air filter regularly.
After use, clean the machine and empty the fuel tank. Run the engine until it stops to clear any remaining fuel from the carburetor. Store the auger in a dry, secure place, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
The Stihl BT 130 is compatible with Stihl earth auger bits, available in various diameters and lengths, specifically designed for different types of soil and tasks. Refer to the manual for recommended sizes.
To check the gearbox lubricant level, place the machine on a level surface, remove the filler plug, and ensure the lubricant is at the bottom of the filler hole. Top up with Stihl gear lubricant if necessary.
