To start the Stihl BT 131, first ensure the machine is on a flat surface. Set the throttle to the start position, engage the choke, and pull the starter cord until the engine fires. Once it fires, set the choke to the run position and pull the starter cord again until the engine starts running smoothly.
The Stihl BT 131 requires a fuel mixture of 50:1 gasoline to oil ratio. Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 and a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.
The air filter should be checked before each use and cleaned if necessary. In dusty conditions, it may need to be cleaned more frequently to ensure optimal performance.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the correct fuel mixture is used. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage and replace if necessary. Verify the air filter is clean and replace if dirty. Ensure that the choke and throttle are set correctly.
Before storing the BT 131, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to prevent fuel from degrading in the carburetor. Clean the machine thoroughly, including the air filter and spark plug, and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
The Stihl BT 131 is compatible with various Stihl drill bits designed for soil and earth drilling. Ensure that the drill bit is properly secured before operation.
To reduce vibration, ensure that the anti-vibration system is intact and functioning properly. Use the machine at a consistent speed and avoid pressing too hard while drilling. Regular maintenance, such as tightening loose parts, can also help minimize vibration.
The gearbox should be checked regularly for lubricant levels and topped up as necessary with Stihl gear lubricant. Inspect the gearbox for any signs of wear or damage and replace any faulty components promptly.
To adjust the throttle cable, locate the adjustment screw near the throttle trigger. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjustment screw to achieve the desired tension. Tighten the locknut once the adjustment is complete.
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection. Ensure the immediate area is clear of obstacles and bystanders. Familiarize yourself with the machine's controls and operation manual before use.
