To properly tension the chain, ensure the chainsaw is turned off and cool. Loosen the bar nuts with the combination wrench. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain; the chain should not sag underneath the guide bar but should move freely when pulled. Tighten the bar nuts securely after adjusting.
Use a heavy-duty extension cord rated for outdoor use, with a minimum gauge of 14 AWG for lengths up to 50 feet and 12 AWG for lengths up to 100 feet, to ensure adequate power supply and safety.
To clean the air filter, first unplug the chainsaw. Remove the cover and take out the air filter. Clean it with warm, soapy water and ensure it is completely dry before reinstalling it. Replace the cover securely.
Check if the chainsaw is properly plugged in to a functioning outlet. Ensure that the extension cord is not damaged. Confirm that the chain brake is disengaged, and the trigger switch is operational. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or contact a service center.
Sharpen the chain every time you refill the oil or if you notice the sawdust becomes powdery and the cutting efficiency decreases. Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.
Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove any debris from the chain and guide bar, and store it in a dry, dust-free environment. Cover the chainsaw or use a carrying case to protect it from moisture and dirt.
It is recommended to use the chain oil specified by Stihl, as it is designed to provide optimal lubrication and performance. Using alternative oils may cause inadequate lubrication and increase wear on the chain and bar.
Unplug the chainsaw and wear protective gloves. Loosen the bar nuts and remove the sprocket cover. Take off the old chain and fit the new chain onto the guide bar, ensuring the teeth are facing the correct direction. Reinstall the sprocket cover and adjust the tension before tightening the bar nuts.
Stop the chainsaw immediately and allow it to cool. Check the lubrication system to ensure it is functioning correctly. Inspect the chain tension and adjust if necessary. Confirm that the chain is sharp and undamaged.
Regular maintenance is key. Ensure the chain is properly lubricated and tensioned. Clean the air filter and check the power cord regularly for damage. Store the chainsaw properly and follow all operating guidelines as per the user manual.
