The Stihl MS 441 C chainsaw requires a 50:1 fuel mixture ratio, which means mixing 1 gallon of gasoline with 2.6 ounces of Stihl two-stroke engine oil.
To start the Stihl MS 441 C, ensure the chain brake is engaged, set the master control lever to the cold start position, pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then move the lever to the warm start position and continue pulling until the engine runs.
Regular maintenance for the Stihl MS 441 C includes cleaning the air filter, checking and sharpening the chain, inspecting the guide bar, and ensuring the fuel and oil filters are clean.
If the Stihl MS 441 C won't start, check the fuel level and mixture, inspect the spark plug for fouling, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the carburetor is adjusted correctly.
To sharpen the chain, use a round file that matches the chain's pitch, maintain the correct filing angle, and ensure all cutters are sharpened evenly. Proper tension and lubrication are also essential.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the L, H, and LA screws. Start with the engine off, turn the L and H screws to their default positions, start the saw, and fine-tune for optimal performance. Consult the manual for detailed instructions.
Always wear protective gear, including gloves, eye and ear protection, and chainsaw chaps. Ensure the chain brake is functioning, and never cut above shoulder height.
To replace the chain, remove the sprocket cover by loosening the nuts, release the chain tension, remove the old chain, place the new chain on the guide bar, and adjust the tension before securing the sprocket cover.
If the saw overheats, stop using it immediately. Check for proper lubrication, ensure the air filter is clean, and avoid running the saw at full throttle for extended periods. Allow the saw to cool before resuming use.
The air filter should be checked after every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Clean or replace the filter as needed to ensure optimal engine performance.
