To start the Stihl MS 362 C, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the master control lever to the cold start position. Pull the starter rope until you hear the engine fire, then move the lever to the run position and pull again to start the engine.
To maintain the chain tension, ensure the chainsaw is off and cooled down. Use the combination wrench to loosen the bar nuts slightly, then adjust the tensioning screw until the chain is snug against the bottom of the bar but can still be moved by hand. Tighten the bar nuts securely.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter cover, take out the air filter, and gently tap it to remove loose dirt. Wash it in soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
The recommended fuel mix ratio for the Stihl MS 362 C is 50:1, which means 50 parts gasoline to 1 part high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. Always use fresh fuel and oil for optimal performance.
If the chainsaw won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and that the air filter is not clogged. Also, verify that the engine stop switch is set to the 'run' position.
Excessive vibration may be due to a loose or damaged chain, worn sprockets, or a misaligned bar. Check these components for wear and alignment, and tighten any loose parts. Regular maintenance can prevent vibration issues.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the saw thoroughly, remove the chain and bar, and store them separately. Keep the chainsaw in a dry, secure place away from direct sunlight.
Use a round file of the correct diameter for your chain. File each cutter by placing the file in the guide and stroking it forward. Maintain a consistent angle and count the strokes to ensure even sharpening. Ensure the depth gauges are also filed to the correct height.
Ensure the chain is sharp and properly tensioned. Avoid pinching the chain in the cut by using wedges to hold the kerf open. Make sure to cut with the bottom of the bar and allow the saw to do the work without forcing it.
If the saw stalls, check the fuel level and ensure there are no blockages in the air filter or fuel line. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and clean or replace as necessary. Make sure the carburetor is adjusted correctly for optimal performance.
