To start the Stihl MS 360 C, set the master control lever to the choke position, engage the chain brake, pull the starter rope until the engine fires briefly, then move the control lever to the run position and pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
The Stihl MS 360 C requires a 50:1 fuel mix of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil.
Regularly check the chain tension, sharpen the chain using a round file, and ensure the chain is properly lubricated. Replace the chain if it shows signs of significant wear or damage.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, verify that the air filter is clean, and make sure the engine is not flooded.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation, or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions. Replace the filter if it is damaged or excessively dirty.
Use a round file and file guide to sharpen each cutter at the prescribed angle. Ensure all cutters are filed to the same length to maintain balance. Check the depth gauges and file them down if necessary.
Adjust the carburetor screws (H, L, and LA) using a screwdriver. Turn the L screw for idle adjustment, the H screw for high-speed adjustment, and the LA for idle speed. Refer to the manual for specific settings.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, lubricating the chain, checking chain tension, and ensuring all screws and fasteners are tight.
Remove the spark plug boot, use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old spark plug, check the gap on the new spark plug, and install it by screwing it in by hand and then tightening with the wrench.
Common troubleshooting tips include checking the fuel and oil levels, ensuring the spark plug is in good condition, cleaning the air filter, and checking the starter rope and recoil mechanism for damage.
