To start your Stihl MS 250, first engage the chain brake. Set the master control lever to the cold start position. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires briefly. Move the master control to the warm start position and pull again until the engine starts.
It is recommended to clean or replace the air filter after every 10 hours of operation, inspect the chain and guide bar after every use, and check the spark plug every 100 hours, replacing it if necessary.
Check the fuel mix to ensure it's fresh and correct. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or wear, and clean or replace it if needed. Make sure the air filter is clean and the carburetor is properly adjusted.
Use a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to 2-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline is at least 89 octane and the oil is a high-quality, 2-cycle engine oil.
First, remove the bar nuts and the sprocket cover. Take off the old chain and guide bar. Fit the new chain onto the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing forward. Reattach the guide bar and sprocket cover, and adjust the chain tension.
Check the chain for sharpness and sharpen or replace it if necessary. Ensure the chain tension is correct and that the guide bar is not worn or damaged.
Ensure the air vents are clean and unobstructed. Use the correct fuel mixture and avoid running the saw at full throttle for extended periods. Regularly clean the cooling fins on the cylinder.
To store your MS 250, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Remove the chain and guide bar, clean them, and store them separately. Keep the saw in a dry, dust-free environment.
The carburetor has three screws: L (low speed), H (high speed), and LA (idle speed). Adjust the L screw for acceleration and smooth idling, the H screw for top speed, and the LA screw to set the idle speed. Consult the manual for specific settings.
Inspect the chain tension and ensure the guide bar is secure. Check for any loose components or parts. Examine the anti-vibration mounts for wear or damage.
