To start the Stihl MS 241 C-M, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the master control lever to the cold start position. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires briefly. Then, move the lever to the warm start position and pull again until the engine starts.
The Stihl MS 241 C-M requires a 50:1 fuel mixture, which is 50 parts gasoline to 1 part high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. Use gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89.
Check the fuel tank for proper fuel mix, inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify the carburetor settings. If problems persist, consult a professional technician.
You should check and clean the air filter after every 5 hours of use. Replace it if it shows signs of damage or excessive dirt accumulation that can't be cleaned.
To tension the chain, first turn off the engine and disengage the chain brake. Loosen the nuts on the sprocket cover. Use the tensioning screw to adjust the chain so it rests snugly against the guide bar but can still be pulled around by hand. Tighten the nuts again.
Regularly inspect the bar for wear and clean it, ensure the chain is sharp and properly tensioned, and lubricate the chain with bar oil before each use. Check the sprocket and replace it if worn.
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stalls to clear the carburetor. Clean the chainsaw, remove the chain and bar, and store them separately. Lubricate metal parts to prevent rust and store in a dry place.
To reset the M-Tronic system, start the saw and let it idle for at least 90 seconds without any throttle input. This allows the system to recalibrate itself.
Possible reasons include a clogged air filter, a dirty fuel filter, or a dull chain. Clean or replace these components as needed and ensure the chain is sharp and properly tensioned.
Perform regular maintenance such as cleaning the air filter, sharpening the chain, checking the fuel mix, and inspecting the bar and sprocket for wear. Store the chainsaw properly and address any issues promptly.
