To start the Stihl MS 210, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Then, set the master control lever to the cold start position. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires briefly, then move the lever to the warm start position and pull again until the engine runs.
To adjust the chain tension on the Stihl MS 230, turn off the engine and allow it to cool. Loosen the nuts on the sprocket cover slightly, then use the tensioning screw to adjust the chain until it fits snugly against the bar but can still be moved by hand. Retighten the nuts securely.
A chain that frequently comes off may be due to incorrect tension or a worn bar. Check and adjust the chain tension and inspect the bar for wear or damage. Replace the bar if necessary.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 5 hours of use or more frequently in dusty conditions. A clean air filter ensures optimal engine performance and longevity.
The Stihl MS 230 requires a 50:1 fuel mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-cycle engine oil. Use fresh, stabilized fuel to prevent carburetor issues.
If the MS 250 won't start, check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and that the carburetor settings are correct.
Regularly sharpen the chain and check the bar for wear or damage. Ensure the oiling system is functioning, and clean the bar groove and oil passages to maintain proper lubrication.
To extend the lifespan, perform regular maintenance such as cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, adjusting chain tension, and using the correct fuel mixture. Proper storage and handling are also important.
If the MS 250 is overheating, check for blockages in the air intake or cooling fins. Ensure the chain is properly lubricated and tensioned. Avoid running the saw at full throttle for extended periods without cutting.
To replace the spark plug on a Stihl MS 210, remove the top cover to access the plug. Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap setting. Reattach the wire securely.
