To start the Stihl MS 201 T, ensure the chain brake is engaged, move the Master Control lever to the choke position, pull the starter handle until the engine fires, and then move the lever to the run position to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel mixture is correct. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, verify that the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Sharpen the chain whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Depending on usage, this might be every few hours of operation or at the end of each day.
Use a 50:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline has a minimum octane rating of 89.
To clean the air filter, remove it from the chainsaw and use a soft brush to remove debris. If it's very dirty, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Loosen the bar nuts slightly, turn the tensioning screw to adjust the chain tension, and then retighten the bar nuts. The chain should be snug against the bar but still move freely by hand.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, sharpening the chain, and checking the chain tension. Also, inspect the guide bar for wear and clean the cooling fins.
Ensure the air filter is clean and the fuel mixture is correct. Check for a clogged fuel filter and inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling. Adjust the carburetor settings if necessary.
Always wear protective gear, including gloves, eye and ear protection, and suitable footwear. Ensure the chainsaw is in good condition, and never operate it while tired or under the influence of substances.
Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, drain the fuel tank, and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight. It is recommended to slightly loosen the chain tension to prevent stress on the bar and chain.
