Stihl MS 201 C-M MS 201 C-EM Instruction Manual

Ensure the chain brake is engaged, move the Master Control Lever to the start position, pull the starter grip until the engine fires, then move the control lever to the run position.
Check the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the spark plug is in good condition. Adjust the carburetor settings if needed.
Turn off the engine and wear protective gloves. Use the side-mounted chain tensioner to adjust the tension until the chain fits snugly against the bar but can still be moved by hand.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and gently clean it with a soft brush or wash it in warm soapy water if heavily soiled. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Sharpen the chain whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance or increased effort is required. Regular checks and maintenance will ensure optimal performance.
Use a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to Stihl two-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline has an octane rating of at least 89.
Check the idle speed and adjust it according to the user manual. Clean the carburetor and ensure the fuel filter is not clogged.
Regularly clean the air filter, inspect the spark plug, check the chain tension, and lubricate the chain. Ensure the fuel and oil levels are adequate before use.
Remove the top cover, disconnect the spark plug wire, unscrew the old plug with a wrench, and replace it with a new one that matches the manufacturer’s specifications.
Excessive smoke may indicate an incorrect fuel mix or a clogged air filter. Check the fuel ratio and clean or replace the air filter.
