To start the Stihl MS 200 T, ensure the chain brake is engaged, switch the ignition to "on," set the choke lever, pull the starter grip until the engine fires, then move the master control lever to the "run" position, and pull again until the engine starts.
Remove the top cover, take out the air filter, and use a soft brush or compressed air to clean it. If it is heavily soiled, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstalling.
Check the fuel level and quality, inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the carburetor is adjusted correctly.
Use a fuel mixture of 50:1 ratio of gasoline to STIHL two-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline is unleaded and has a minimum octane rating of 89.
Turn off the engine, engage the chain brake, loosen the bar nuts slightly, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain rests snugly against the bar but can still be pulled around by hand, then tighten the bar nuts securely.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug as needed, checking and sharpening the chain, and ensuring the guide bar is in good condition.
A chainsaw may lose power due to a clogged air filter, a dirty carburetor, an old or faulty spark plug, or fuel issues. Ensure all these components are clean and properly maintained.
Locate the carburetor adjustment screws marked "H" (high speed) and "L" (low speed). Adjust them to achieve the optimal engine performance, referring to the user manual for specific settings.
Stihl recommends using their own brand of bar and chain oil, which is specifically formulated to provide optimal lubrication and reduce wear on the guide bar and chain.
Ensure the chain is properly tensioned, check for worn sprockets, and ensure the bar rails are not damaged or excessively worn. Regular maintenance can help prevent this issue.
