To start the Stihl MS 192 T/MS 192 TC, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the master control lever to the choke/start position. Pull the starter rope until you hear the engine fire briefly. Move the master control to the run position, then pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
To tension the chain, first ensure the saw is off and cool. Loosen the nuts on the sprocket cover slightly. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise until the chain fits snugly against the bar, but can still be pulled around by hand. Tighten the sprocket cover nuts securely.
If the chainsaw won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensuring it's fresh and properly mixed. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage and clean or replace if necessary. Additionally, ensure the air filter is clean and not clogged.
It's recommended to check the air filter after every 5 hours of use. Clean it if there is noticeable debris or dust. Replace the air filter if it is excessively dirty or damaged to ensure optimal performance.
Use a high-quality 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89. The recommended fuel mix ratio is 50:1, which equates to 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gasoline.
Regularly sharpen the chain using a round file that matches the chain specifications. Make sure to lubricate the bar and chain with appropriate chain oil. Check the chain tension frequently and adjust as necessary.
Ensure you are using the correct type of chain for your cutting needs. Avoid cutting dirty or abrasive materials that can dull the chain. Regularly sharpen the chain and ensure proper lubrication to extend its sharpness and lifespan.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. Clean the saw thoroughly and apply a light coating of oil to the bar and chain to prevent rust. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
Always wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection. Ensure the chain brake is functional before use. Maintain a firm grip and stance to control the saw effectively. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid cutting above shoulder height.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull or improperly sharpened chain. Ensure the chain is evenly sharpened on both sides. Check the guide bar for wear or damage and replace if needed. Verify that the chain is correctly tensioned and lubricated.
