To start the Stihl MS 191 T, first ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the master control lever to the choke position if the engine is cold. Pull the starter rope until you hear the engine fire, then move the lever to the run position and pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
The correct fuel mix for the Stihl MS 191 T is a ratio of 50:1, which means 50 parts gasoline to 1 part Stihl two-stroke engine oil.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover and take out the air filter. Gently wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Ensure there are no tears or damage before placing it back.
If the chain keeps getting loose, it may be due to improper tensioning. Ensure the chain is properly tensioned by adjusting the tensioning screw. Also, check for worn sprockets or a stretched chain that might need replacement.
If the engine stalls, check the fuel level, ensure the air filter is clean, and inspect the spark plug for fouling. Adjust the carburetor settings if necessary, following the manual's instructions.
You should sharpen the chain every time you refuel or when you notice decreased cutting performance. Use a round file and guide to maintain the correct angle and depth of the cutters.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and tightening chain tension, inspecting the spark plug, lubricating the sprocket, and checking the chain brake function.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug boot, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap specification, then reattach the spark plug boot.
If the chainsaw is overheating, ensure the air vents are clean and unobstructed. Check the fuel mixture is correct and ensure the chain is properly lubricated. Allow the engine to cool before continuing use.
To store the chainsaw safely, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, remove the chain and guide bar, and store them in a dry place. Use a protective cover to prevent dust accumulation.
