To start the Stihl MS 150 TC, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Set the master control lever to the cold start position. Pull the starter handle until the engine fires briefly. Move the control lever to the warm start position and pull the starter handle again until the engine starts.
To maintain the air filter, remove the top cover and take out the filter. Clean it using warm soapy water or replace it if it's damaged. Ensure it's completely dry before reinstallation. Regular cleaning is crucial for optimal performance.
Sharpen the chain whenever you notice reduced cutting performance or increased effort during cutting. Depending on usage, this may range from every few hours to every few days of operation. Use a proper file or a chain sharpening tool.
Use a high-quality 2-stroke engine oil mixed with unleaded gasoline at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
The chainsaw may stall due to a clogged air filter, dirty fuel filter, or improper carburetor settings. Check and clean the air filter, inspect the fuel filter, and adjust the carburetor according to the manual's specifications.
Check the fuel mixture and replace it if old. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and clean or replace it. Ensure the air filter is clean and the carburetor is adjusted correctly. These steps can resolve most starting issues.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, sharpening the chain, checking the chain tension, inspecting the spark plug, and ensuring the fuel mixture is fresh. Also, lubricate the bar and chain regularly.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the bar nuts slightly. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise to tighten the chain until it rests against the bar but can still be moved by hand. Tighten the bar nuts securely after adjusting.
Ensure the air vents are clear of debris and the cooling fins are clean. Check the fuel mixture for correctness and inspect the air filter for blockage. Overheating can often be prevented with proper maintenance.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly, including the bar and chain. Store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
