To start the Stihl KW 85, ensure the fuel tank is filled, set the choke to the closed position, pull the starter cord until you feel resistance, and then pull sharply to start the engine. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the open position.
Regularly clean the air filter, inspect and replace the spark plug as needed, check the fuel filter, and ensure all screws and bolts are tightened. Additionally, lubricate the moving parts and check the drive belt for wear.
If the KW 85 won't start, ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank. Check the spark plug for fouling, clean or replace it if necessary. Verify the air filter is clean and inspect the fuel lines for any blockages or leaks.
The Stihl KW 85 requires a fuel mixture of 50:1, which is 50 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil. Use high-quality oil and gasoline to ensure the best performance and longevity.
First, disconnect the spark plug for safety. Remove the belt cover by unscrewing the bolts, then take off the old belt. Place the new belt over the pulleys, ensuring it is properly seated, and reattach the belt cover securely.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the air filter, and wash it in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling. If the filter is damaged or heavily soiled, replace it with a new one.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed and counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the engine runs smoothly without the attachment moving.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged or unbalanced attachment. Check the attachment for damage or debris. Ensure all mounting screws are tight and inspect the drive belt for wear or misalignment.
The spark plug should be inspected regularly and replaced every 100 operating hours or once a season, whichever comes first. Always use the recommended spark plug type for optimal performance.
The Stihl KW 85 can handle light moisture, but it is not designed for use in heavy rain or very wet conditions. Always ensure the tool is dry before storage to prevent rust and electrical issues.
