Stihl KM 90 R Instruction Manual

To start the Stihl KM 90 R engine, set the choke lever to the cold start position, press the fuel pump primer bulb at least 5 times, set the throttle trigger to the start position, and then pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Once it starts, move the choke lever to the run position.
The Stihl KM 90 R requires a 50:1 fuel mix ratio. This means mixing 50 parts of gasoline with 1 part of Stihl two-stroke engine oil. Ensure you're using fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89.
To clean the air filter, first remove the air filter cover by loosening the screws. Take out the air filter and gently wash it in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if the filter is damaged or heavily soiled.
If your KM 90 R won't start, check the fuel tank for sufficient fuel and ensure it’s mixed correctly. Inspect the spark plug for fouling, clean or replace if necessary. Ensure the air filter is clean, and check all connections and hoses for blockages or damage.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 25 hours of operation or at least once a season. This includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, checking the fuel system, and lubricating moving parts.
To change the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug boot. Use a spark plug socket wrench to remove the old spark plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug, and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug, tightening it securely, and reconnect the spark plug boot.
The Stihl KM 90 R is compatible with a variety of KombiSystem attachments, including a string trimmer, hedge trimmer, pole pruner, blower, cultivator, and more. Ensure each attachment is properly secured before use.
For winter storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the tool, and check for any damage that needs repair. Store it in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Excessive vibration can be caused by damaged or unbalanced cutting attachments, loose bolts, or worn engine mounts. Inspect and replace any damaged parts, and ensure all bolts are tightened properly.
Always wear protective gear, including goggles, gloves, and ear protection. Make sure the work area is clear of debris and bystanders. Follow the user manual instructions carefully, and never modify the tool in any way.
