Stihl KM 90 Instruction Manual

To start the Stihl KM 90, set the control lever to the start position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, pull the starter rope until the engine fires, and then quickly move the control lever to the run position.
If the engine doesn't start, check for fuel in the tank, inspect the spark plug for fouling, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the choke is correctly set.
To maintain the air filter, remove the cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm soapy water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the filter if it's damaged or excessively dirty.
The Stihl KM 90 requires a 50:1 fuel mixture of unleaded gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline has an octane rating of 89 or higher.
Sharpen the cutting blades whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance or after every 25 hours of use. Use a proper file and maintain the correct angle for optimal performance.
An engine running rough or stalling could be due to a clogged air filter, dirty fuel filter, or a fouled spark plug. Clean or replace these components as needed and check the carburetor settings.
To change the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug boot, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap. Reattach the boot securely.
The Stihl KM 90 can be used with a variety of attachments, including a trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, and pole pruner, making it a versatile tool for different gardening tasks.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank, clean the machine thoroughly, remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder, and store it in a dry, cool place.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter and spark plug after every 10 hours of operation, inspecting the fuel system monthly, and performing an annual check-up by an authorized service center.
