To start the Stihl KM 55 R, ensure the machine is on a flat surface. Set the control lever to the start position, engage the choke if the engine is cold, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Release the choke once the engine is running smoothly.
The Stihl KM 55 R requires a 50:1 fuel mix ratio of unleaded gasoline to high-quality 2-stroke engine oil. Always use fresh fuel and mix in small quantities to ensure optimal performance.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling, and replace if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and the carburetor is properly adjusted.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning or replacing the air filter, checking the spark plug, inspecting the fuel system, and lubricating moving parts. It's also important to check and tighten any loose screws or bolts.
An engine losing power may be due to a clogged air filter, a dirty fuel filter, or a fouled spark plug. Ensure these components are clean and replace them if needed. Also, check for carburetor issues or exhaust blockages.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the L (low speed) and H (high speed) screws. Turn them gently to fine-tune the engine's performance. It is recommended to refer to the user manual or consult a professional for precise adjustments.
The Stihl KM 55 R is compatible with various KombiSystem attachments, including a trimmer, blower, edger, cultivator, and hedge trimmer. Ensure each attachment is properly secured before use.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. Wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely before reinstallation. Replace if it shows signs of damage or wear.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced attachment, loose parts, or worn-out components. Check and tighten all connections and inspect the attachment for damage. Replace any worn parts as needed.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the machine thoroughly and store it in a dry, secure location away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
