Ensure the stop switch is in the "I" position, press the primer bulb 5-6 times, set the choke to cold start, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Move the choke to the run position and pull the rope again to start.
Use a 50:1 fuel mixture of unleaded gasoline and Stihl 2-stroke engine oil. Ensure the gasoline has a minimum octane rating of 89.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation or more frequently if working in dusty conditions.
Check the fuel mixture, ensure the spark plug is not fouled, verify the air filter is clean, and inspect the primer bulb for any damage.
Regularly inspect the cutting attachment for wear or damage, sharpen blades as needed, and ensure all components are securely tightened.
The correct idle speed is approximately 2,800 RPM. Adjust the idle screw on the carburetor if necessary to maintain this speed.
Remove the spark plug boot, use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old plug, and install a new NGK CMR6H spark plug, tightening it securely.
Check the air filter, spark plug, fuel filter, and clean the cooling fins. Inspect the throttle trigger and stop switch for proper function.
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the unit thoroughly and store in a dry, sheltered location away from direct sunlight.
Use high-quality 2-stroke engine oil specifically formulated for air-cooled engines, preferably Stihl brand.
