To assemble the Stihl HTA 66 or HTA 86, start by attaching the shaft to the motor unit, ensuring the locking pin clicks into place. Then, secure the chain and guide bar, making sure the chain is correctly tensioned according to the user manual.
Regularly check the chain for proper tension and sharpness. Clean it after each use to remove debris and lubricate with bar oil. Sharpen the chain as needed using a round file or have it professionally sharpened.
Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Check the chain brake and make sure it is disengaged. Inspect the power switch for proper operation and examine any visible electrical connections for damage.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves, helmet, protective eyewear, and hearing protection. Ensure the work area is clear of obstacles and that you maintain a stable stance. Always follow the user manual's safety guidelines.
Regular maintenance should be performed after every 10 hours of use. This includes cleaning the air filter, checking the chain tension, and inspecting the battery. Refer to the user manual for detailed maintenance schedules.
Clean the pole pruner thoroughly, remove the battery, and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the chain is de-tensioned slightly to prevent unnecessary strain.
Stop the pruner immediately and turn off the power. Adjust the chain tension by loosening the bar nut and turning the tensioning screw until the chain sits snugly against the guide bar. Retighten the bar nut after adjustment.
It is not recommended to use the Stihl HTA 66 or HTA 86 in wet conditions as it can affect the electrical components and safety. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines regarding weather conditions.
The Stihl HTA 66 and HTA 86 use a lithium-ion battery. To maximize its lifespan, store it at a partial charge in a cool environment and avoid complete discharges. Use only the recommended charger.
To change the guide bar, first remove the battery for safety. Loosen the bar nut, remove the chain and old guide bar, then install the new guide bar and chain. Ensure proper chain tension before securing the bar nut.
