To start the Stihl HT 250, set it on a flat surface, switch the ignition to 'on', set the choke lever to 'cold start', pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then move the choke to 'run'. Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.
Use a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to 2-cycle engine oil for the Stihl HT 250. Ensure the gasoline is unleaded and has an octane rating of 89 or higher.
Check the spark plug for fouling, ensure the fuel is fresh, verify that the air filter is clean, and confirm the choke lever is in the correct position.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions. Replace it if it is damaged or excessively dirty.
Perform a visual inspection before each use, clean air filters every 10 hours, replace spark plugs annually, and have the carburetor adjusted by a professional as needed.
Use a round file that matches the chain's specifications. Sharpen each cutter by filing from the inside to the outside edge, maintaining the correct angle. Always file all cutters to the same length.
Check the oil reservoir to ensure it's filled. Inspect the oil pump and oil delivery system for blockages or damage. Clean the oil passages and replace any damaged parts.
Ensure all anti-vibration components are intact and secure. Maintain a firm grip but do not hold the pruner too tightly. Regularly check that the chain is sharp and properly tensioned.
Allow the engine to cool, check for obstructions in the cooling fins, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the fuel mixture is correct.
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the pole pruner thoroughly, remove the chain and guide bar, and store them in a dry place. Apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.
