To start the Stihl HL 75, ensure the choke is engaged, the throttle trigger is in the start position, and the ignition switch is on. Pull the starter cord until the engine fires. Once it fires, move the choke back to the run position.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and cleaning the spark plug, sharpening the blades, and inspecting fuel lines for leaks or wear.
Check for fuel in the tank, ensure the air filter is clean, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify the ignition switch is functional. Also, check the fuel lines for blockages or leaks.
Empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. Clean the air filter, sharpen the blades, and store the trimmer in a dry, secure place.
Locate the carburetor adjustment screws labeled 'H' (high speed) and 'L' (low speed). Adjust them to fine-tune the engine performance, typically starting with the 'L' screw for idle and 'H' for high-speed operation.
Use a high-quality 2-stroke oil mixed with unleaded gasoline at a ratio of 50:1. Ensure the gasoline has an octane rating of at least 89.
To sharpen the blades, use a flat file or bench grinder. Ensure the blade is secured and file evenly along the cutting edge. Maintain the original angle and check for balance after sharpening.
Check for loose components or damaged blades. Inspect the blade for balance and ensure all screws and bolts are tightened. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug boot, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap. Reattach the spark plug boot securely.
Wear protective gear, including gloves, goggles, and ear protection. Ensure the work area is clear of obstacles and bystanders. Follow all manufacturer guidelines and maintain a firm grip on the trimmer handle.
