To start the Stihl HL 100, ensure the choke is engaged, set the throttle to the start position, pull the starter cord until the engine fires, then move the choke to the run position and pull once more to start.
The Stihl HL 100 requires a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to two-stroke engine oil. Use high-quality oil and unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 89 octane.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty conditions, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the engine.
If the engine floods, remove the spark plug, dry it, pull the starter cord several times to clear excess fuel, reinstall the spark plug, and attempt to start the engine again.
To adjust the cutting blades, ensure the engine is off and cool. Loosen the bolts on the blade assembly, adjust to the desired angle or position, and retighten the bolts securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug annually, removing debris from the cooling fins, and sharpening the blades as needed.
Check the fuel level and freshness, inspect the spark plug for fouling, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the choke is set correctly. If problems persist, consult a professional technician.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection. Ensure the work area is clear of obstacles and bystanders, and operate the trimmer as per the user manual guidelines.
Empty the fuel tank, clean the unit thoroughly, and store it in a dry, cool location away from direct sunlight. Periodically check for moisture or corrosion during long-term storage.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose parts, or worn components. Inspect the blades for damage, ensure all screws and bolts are tight, and replace any worn parts as necessary.
