To start the Stihl FW 20 ST, ensure that the machine is on a flat surface, switch the ignition to the "on" position, engage the choke if the engine is cold, and pull the starter cord firmly until the engine starts.
The Stihl FW 20 ST requires a gasoline-oil mix at a ratio of 50:1. Use high-quality 89 octane unleaded gasoline mixed with a 2-stroke engine oil.
Regular maintenance should be performed after every 25 hours of use. This includes checking the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and cleaning the fuel tank.
If the Stihl FW 20 ST is not cutting properly, check for a dull blade, ensure the blade is installed correctly, and verify that the cutting depth is set appropriately.
To replace the blade, first disconnect the spark plug wire, secure the blade with a clamp, and use the correct wrench to remove the blade bolt. Install the new blade by reversing the process.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose mounting bolts, or worn engine mounts. Inspect these components and replace or adjust as necessary.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly clean or replace the air filter, ensure the spark plug is in good condition, and use the correct fuel mixture.
If the engine overheats, turn off the machine immediately, check for blockages in the cooling fins or air intake, and allow the engine to cool before restarting.
For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank, clean the machine thoroughly, lubricate moving parts, and store in a dry, sheltered area away from direct sunlight.
If the machine won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, verify the choke is in the correct position, and inspect the air filter for blockages.
