Stihl FS 74 FS 76 Instruction Manual

To start the Stihl FS 74/76, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the start position, press the fuel pump bulb several times until fuel is visible, and pull the starter rope firmly until the engine starts.
Use a mix of unleaded gasoline and high-quality two-stroke engine oil at a 50:1 ratio. Ensure the gasoline has an octane rating of at least 89.
To replace the trimmer line, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug cap. Remove the spool from the trimmer head, wind new line onto the spool according to the directional arrows, and reattach the spool.
If the trimmer won't start, check the fuel level, spark plug condition, and air filter. Ensure the choke lever is in the correct position and the fuel is fresh.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned every 10 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace it if it's damaged or excessively dirty.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, inspecting the fuel system, and lubricating moving parts. Refer to the user manual for detailed instructions.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked L, H, and LA. Turn them slightly to adjust the engine's performance, but consult the manual for specific settings.
Overheating may result from a clogged air filter, incorrect fuel mixture, or blocked cooling fins. Ensure proper ventilation and correct maintenance practices are followed.
To reduce vibration, ensure the cutting attachments are properly balanced and the handlebar is correctly adjusted. Use anti-vibration gloves and maintain a firm grip.
Before storing, clean the trimmer, empty the fuel tank, and run the engine until it stops. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and moisture.
