To start the Stihl FS 65, ensure the switch is in the 'on' position, engage the choke if the engine is cold, press the primer bulb a few times, pull the starter rope until the engine fires, and then push the choke back in.
Use a 50:1 mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-cycle engine oil. Always use fresh, clean fuel with a minimum octane rating of 89.
To replace the trimmer line, remove the spool from the head, cut a length of line, and wind it evenly on the spool. Reattach the spool, ensuring the line feeds correctly through the guide.
If the engine won't start, check for fuel issues, inspect the spark plug for wear, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify the kill switch is set to 'on'.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover, take out the filter, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, let it dry, and then lightly oil it before reinstalling.
Regularly check and clean the air filter, inspect the spark plug annually, replace the fuel filter every 100 hours, and lubricate the gearbox every 25 hours.
Check for damaged or uneven trimmer line, ensure the cutting head is securely attached, and inspect the drive shaft and gearbox for damage.
Wear protective gear, including safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection. Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders and debris. Follow all safety instructions in the manual.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws, start the engine, and adjust the screws slowly to achieve a smooth idle and optimal performance. Consult the manual for specific settings.
Loss of power can result from a clogged air filter, old fuel, a dirty spark plug, or carburetor issues. Inspect and clean these components as needed.
