Ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface, switch the ignition to "on", pump the primer bulb until fuel is visible, set the choke, and pull the starter cord until the engine starts.
Use a 50:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to Stihl two-stroke engine oil. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol.
First, remove the spool by pressing the tabs on the side of the trimmer head. Cut two lengths of line, insert them into the spool, wind them evenly, and reassemble the trimmer head.
Check the fuel level and quality, inspect the spark plug for wear, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the choke and throttle settings are correct.
Clean the air filter after every 10 hours of operation, or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions. Wash it with warm soapy water, dry it, and apply a small amount of oil before reinstallation.
Routinely check and clean the air filter, inspect and replace the spark plug annually, lubricate the gearbox, and replace the trimmer line as needed.
Adjust the carburetor by locating the H (high speed) and L (low speed) screws. Turn them slightly to fine-tune the engine’s performance, ensuring it runs smoothly at both low and high RPMs.
Empty the fuel tank, run the engine until it stops, clean the trimmer, remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder, then store it in a dry, dust-free environment.
Ensure the cooling fins are clean and unobstructed, use the correct fuel mixture, and avoid running the trimmer at full throttle for extended periods.
Check that the cutting attachment is balanced and securely attached, inspect the drive shaft, and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened properly.
