To start the Stihl FS 36, first ensure the ignition switch is set to 'on'. Prime the fuel bulb until you see fuel inside it. Set the choke lever to the start position. Pull the starter cord until the engine fires, then move the choke to the run position and pull again until it starts.
The Stihl FS 36 requires a 50:1 fuel mix ratio, consisting of unleaded gasoline and a 2-cycle engine oil. Always use fresh fuel and a high-quality oil.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool cap, then take out the old line. Insert the new line into the spool, wind it in the direction of the arrows, and then feed the ends through the eyelets on the trimmer head before securing the cap.
Stalling could be due to several reasons such as a clogged air filter, old fuel, or a dirty carburetor. Check and clean the air filter, ensure the fuel is fresh, and clean the carburetor if necessary.
Regular maintenance for the Stihl FS 36 includes cleaning the air filter after every 10 hours of use, checking the spark plug every 25 hours, and inspecting the fuel system regularly for signs of wear or damage.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the cutting head no longer moves at idle.
If the FS 36 won't start, check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Examine the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if needed. Verify that the air filter is clean and not clogged.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. Wash it gently with warm, soapy water, let it dry completely, and then lightly oil it before reinstalling. Ensure the cover is securely placed back.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and hearing protection. Ensure bystanders are at a safe distance. Inspect the trimmer before use for any damage or loose parts.
Regular maintenance is key. Clean the machine after each use, use only recommended fuel and oils, and store it in a dry, sheltered place. Regularly inspect and replace worn or damaged parts.
