The Stihl FS 311 requires a fuel mixture of 50:1, which is 50 parts unleaded gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the trimmer head by unscrewing it. Replace the old line with a new line of the correct diameter, following the direction of the arrows on the spool.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 10 hours of operation. Replace it if it shows signs of excessive wear or damage.
If the FS 311 won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, check the air filter and clean it if it's dirty.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked 'L', 'H', and 'LA'. Turn the 'L' screw for low speed, the 'H' screw for high speed, and the 'LA' screw for idling, following the detailed instructions in the user manual for precise settings.
The Stihl FS 311 can use a variety of cutting attachments, including metal blades for dense vegetation and nylon line for trimming grass. Always ensure the attachment is compatible and properly installed.
The gearbox should be lubricated with Stihl gear lubricant every 25 hours of use. Clean the area around the gearbox and remove the filler plug to add lubricant.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged cutting attachment. Check that the attachment is correctly installed and inspect it for any damage. Replace it if necessary.
To store the FS 311, clean it thoroughly and empty the fuel tank. Run the engine until it stops to clear any fuel from the carburetor. Store the unit in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Always wear protective clothing, including gloves, goggles, and ear protection. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid using the trimmer near people or animals. Follow all safety instructions provided in the user manual.
