To start the Stihl FS 300, ensure the machine is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the closed position, press the fuel pump bulb several times until fuel is visible, set the throttle to the start position, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Once it starts, open the choke.
The Stihl FS 350 requires a 50:1 fuel mixture, which is 50 parts gasoline to 1 part Stihl 2-stroke engine oil. Make sure to use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89.
To replace the trimmer line on the FS 400, first remove the spool from the trimmer head. Cut two pieces of nylon line to the recommended length, insert them into the spool, wind them evenly in the direction of the arrows, and reattach the spool to the trimmer head.
Regular maintenance for the FS 450 includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug and replacing if necessary, checking the fuel system for leaks, and lubricating the gearhead. Always refer to the user manual for detailed instructions.
If the FS 480 engine is not running smoothly, it could be due to a dirty air filter, a clogged fuel filter, or a fouled spark plug. Clean or replace these components as required. Also, check the fuel mixture and ensure there is no air leakage in the fuel lines.
To adjust the carburetor on the FS 300, locate the adjustment screws marked L (Low), H (High), and LA (Idle Speed). Adjust the L screw for low-speed performance, the H screw for high-speed performance, and the LA screw for idle speed. Consult the manual for specific turning instructions.
When using the FS 350, wear protective gear including safety glasses, gloves, long pants, and hearing protection. Keep bystanders at a safe distance and be aware of the surroundings to avoid objects that could be thrown by the trimmer.
To clean the air filter on the FS 400, remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Never operate the trimmer without the air filter in place.
Low power output on the FS 450 can be caused by a dirty air filter, clogged fuel filter, or a worn spark plug. Ensure the fuel mixture is correct and examine the exhaust for any blockages. Clean or replace components as needed.
The gearhead of the FS 480 should be lubricated approximately every 25 hours of operation. Use Stihl gear lubricant to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the components.
