To start the Stihl FS 240 R, ensure the stop switch is in the run position, the choke is engaged if the engine is cold, and the primer bulb is pressed several times until fuel is visible. Then, pull the starter rope until the engine fires up.
The correct fuel mixture for the FS 240 and FS 240 R is a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to 2-stroke engine oil. Always use high-quality, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 10 hours of operation. If you are working in dusty conditions, the filter may need cleaning more frequently.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter every 10 hours, inspecting the spark plug every 50 hours, and replacing it annually or as needed. The gearbox should be lubricated after every 25 hours of use.
If the FS 240 R won't start, check the fuel mixture, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Additionally, inspect the ignition system and ensure the choke is used correctly for the starting conditions.
The FS 240 can be equipped with a variety of cutting attachments, including line heads and metal blades. Always refer to the user manual to ensure compatibility and proper installation of attachments.
To replace the trimmer line, turn off the engine and remove the spark plug boot. Open the mowing head by pressing the tabs and remove any remaining line. Insert the new line into the spool, wind it evenly, and reassemble the head.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an imbalanced cutting attachment or loose parts. Inspect the cutting head and blade, tighten any loose screws or bolts, and ensure the attachment is properly installed.
For dense vegetation, consider using a metal blade instead of a line head. Ensure the blade is sharp and properly balanced to improve cutting efficiency and reduce strain on the engine.
Always wear protective gear, including eye and ear protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Clear the work area of debris, maintain a firm grip on the trimmer, and be aware of your surroundings to prevent accidents.
