To start the Stihl FS 111 R, ensure the stop switch is in the run position. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible. Set the choke lever to the closed position for cold starts. Pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then move the choke to the open position and continue pulling until the engine runs.
The Stihl FS 111 R requires a fuel mixture of 50:1, which means 50 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil. It is recommended to use a high-quality 2-stroke oil to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the trimmer head by pressing the tabs on the side and pulling it off. Insert the new line into the holes on the spool and wind it evenly. Reattach the trimmer head and ensure it is secure.
Regular maintenance for the FS 111 R includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug if necessary, inspecting the fuel system for leaks, and lubricating the gearbox. It's also important to regularly inspect the cutting head and replace any worn parts.
If the FS 111 R won't start, check the fuel mixture to ensure it is correct. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage and replace if necessary. Clean the air filter if it's dirty. Ensure the stop switch is in the run position and the choke is set correctly for the starting conditions.
To adjust the idle speed on the FS 111, locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the engine idles smoothly without the cutting attachment moving.
Excessive vibration on the FS 111 R can be caused by an unbalanced cutting attachment, loose parts, or worn engine mounts. Check the cutting attachment for damage or imbalance, tighten any loose screws or bolts, and inspect the engine mounts for wear or damage.
When using the FS 111, always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid using the trimmer near bystanders, pets, or obstacles that could cause injury.
To clean the air filter on the FS 111 R, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it in warm, soapy water and let it dry completely. If the filter is damaged or excessively dirty, replace it with a new one. Reinstall the filter and cover securely.
If the FS 111 stalls during operation, check the fuel tank to ensure there is adequate fuel. Inspect the air filter for dirt or blockage. Examine the spark plug for fouling or wear and replace if necessary. Adjust the carburetor settings if needed to ensure proper fuel flow.
