To start the Stihl FS 110, ensure the stop switch is in the 'I' position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, set the choke lever to the cold start position, pull the starter rope until the engine fires, then set the choke to the run position and pull the starter rope again until the engine runs.
The Stihl FS 110 requires a fuel mixture of 50:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to Stihl 2-cycle engine oil. Ensure you use fresh fuel and oil for optimal performance.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover by loosening the screws, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry before reinstalling.
If your engine stalls, it could be due to a clogged air filter, dirty spark plug, or incorrect carburetor settings. Check and clean these components, and adjust the carburetor as needed.
It is recommended to replace the spark plug every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first, to ensure optimal engine performance.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, lubricating the gear head, and checking the fuel system for leaks.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked 'H' for high speed, 'L' for low speed, and 'LA' for idle. Turn the screws slowly while the engine is running until the desired performance is achieved.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank, run the engine until it stalls to clear the carburetor, clean the tool thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Consider removing the spark plug and adding a few drops of oil into the cylinder.
To replace the trimmer line, remove the spool from the head, cut approximately 25 feet of new line, wind it tightly onto the spool in the direction indicated, and reattach the spool to the head.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced cutting attachment or a damaged drive shaft. Check the cutting attachment for damage or imbalance and inspect the drive shaft for wear or damage.
