To start the Stihl FH-KM, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Set the machine to 'start' mode, press the primer bulb several times until it is full, and pull the starter cord. Once the engine starts, allow it to warm up for a few seconds before use.
If the FH-KM does not start, check the fuel level and ensure it is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling, and clean or replace it if necessary. Verify that the air filter is clean and that all switches are in the correct position.
Regularly inspect the blade for damage or dullness. Sharpen the blade using a suitable file or grinding tool, ensuring the correct angle is maintained. Always clean the blade after use to prevent rust and corrosion.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89, mixed with high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned after every 10 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Use warm, soapy water to clean the filter and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Before storing the FH-KM, clean it thoroughly and remove any debris. Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent degradation. Store the unit in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition.
If the unit runs but isn't cutting effectively, check if the blade is dull or damaged and sharpen or replace it as needed. Verify that the blade is properly attached and that there is no obstruction in the cutting path.
Excessive vibration may indicate a loose or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure it is securely attached. Check all bolts and fasteners are tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications.
While the FH-KM is designed for various conditions, it is best to avoid using it in heavy rain or very wet conditions to prevent slipping and machine damage. Always ensure your safety and the integrity of the equipment.
To replace the spark plug, first remove the spark plug boot. Use a spark plug wrench to unscrew the old plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug, then install it by hand to avoid cross-threading before tightening with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug boot securely.
