Ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface, move the stop switch to the 'on' position, and press the fuel pump bulb several times until visible fuel flows through it. Set the choke lever, pull the starter cord briskly, and once it starts, move the choke to the run position.
Remove the air filter cover by unscrewing the cover screws. Take out the air filter and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Ensure the filter is seated correctly and replace the cover.
Stalling during acceleration may be due to a clogged air filter, incorrect carburetor settings, or old fuel. Clean or replace the air filter, check carburetor settings, and use fresh fuel.
It is recommended to replace the spark plug every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first, to ensure optimal engine performance.
The correct fuel mix ratio for a Stihl FH is 50:1, which means 50 parts of gasoline to 1 part of Stihl 2-stroke engine oil. Always use fresh, high-quality fuel.
To prevent overheating, ensure the air vents are clean and unobstructed, use the correct fuel mixture, and avoid operating the trimmer in extremely hot conditions for extended periods.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged or unbalanced cutting attachment. Inspect and replace any damaged parts, and ensure the attachment is securely fastened.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked 'L', 'H', and 'LA'. The 'L' screw adjusts low speed, 'H' adjusts high speed, and 'LA' adjusts idle speed. Adjust these screws incrementally while the engine is running to achieve optimal performance.
If the cutting performance is poor, inspect the cutting blades for dullness or damage. Sharpen or replace them as needed. Also, ensure the blades are properly tensioned and clean any debris from the cutting area.
To store your trimmer for the winter, clean it thoroughly, empty the fuel tank, and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Remove the spark plug, add a few drops of oil into the cylinder, and pull the starter cord to distribute the oil. Store in a dry, cool place.
