To start the Stihl FC 90, ensure the unit is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the closed position, press the primer bulb several times, and pull the starter cord firmly until the engine starts. Once started, move the choke to the open position.
The Stihl FC 90 requires a fuel mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. Ensure the mixture is well blended before use.
To clean the air filter, first remove the air filter cover. Take out the filter and wash it gently with warm soapy water. Rinse and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
If the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug and clear excess fuel by pulling the starter cord several times. Clean the spark plug and reinstall it before attempting to start the engine again.
To replace the blade, first ensure the engine is off and spark plug is disconnected. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, then remove the old blade. Install the new blade and secure it by tightening the blade bolt firmly.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug annually, checking the fuel system for leaks, and sharpening or replacing the blade as needed.
Loss of power can be caused by a clogged air filter, dirty spark plug, or incorrect fuel mixture. Ensure the air filter is clean, the spark plug is in good condition, and the fuel mixture is correct.
Carburetor adjustment should be done by a professional, but if necessary, locate the adjustment screws and make small adjustments while the engine is running. Adjust for a smooth idle and optimal performance.
Common causes of vibration include a damaged or unbalanced blade, loose parts, or engine issues. Check the blade for damage, tighten any loose components, and inspect the engine mounts.
To winterize, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the unit thoroughly, inspect for any damage, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Consider adding a fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel.
