Stihl FC 85 Instruction Manual

To start the Stihl FC 85, ensure the ignition switch is in the "on" position, set the choke lever to the closed position, and pull the starter cord until the engine fires. Then, set the choke to the open position and pull the starter cord again until the engine starts.
The recommended fuel mixture for the Stihl FC 85 is a 50:1 ratio of unleaded gasoline to Stihl two-stroke engine oil.
Check the fuel level and mixture, inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the ignition switch is in the "on" position.
The air filter should be cleaned after approximately every 10 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty conditions.
The Stihl FC 85 uses a NGK BPMR7A or Bosch WSR6F spark plug.
To replace the blade, first ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Remove the blade nut with a wrench, replace the blade, and secure it by tightening the nut.
Excessive vibration could be due to a damaged or unbalanced blade, loose components, or engine issues. Inspect the blade and tighten any loose screws or bolts.
Regularly check the gearbox for leaks and ensure it is properly lubricated with Stihl gear lubricant. Inspect for wear and tighten any loose screws.
To store the Stihl FC 85, empty the fuel tank, clean the tool thoroughly, and store it in a dry, well-ventilated area. Disconnect the spark plug and lightly lubricate metal parts to prevent rust.
If the FC 85 loses power, check the air filter and spark plug for clogging or fouling. Ensure the fuel mixture is correct and that there are no obstructions in the exhaust.
